Finally, Google has confirmed that it will be launching the Pixel 5a 5G later this year. It was earlier reported by Android Central and tipster Jon Prosser that the Pixel 5a 5G is canceled entirely due to the chipset shortage.

Refuting the cancellation rumor, a Google spokesperson speaking to 9to5Google said,

Pixel 5a 5G is not canceled. It will be available later this year in the US and Japan and announced in line with when last year’s a-series phone was introduced.

The Pixel 5a 5G will be available in the US and Japan. Later, it may go official in one or two more markets. The Pixel 4a was launched back in August and August 2021 may bring Google Pixel 5a 5G. Rumors are the device will launch as early as June 2021. So, the company may announce the launch details of Pixel 5a 5G at the Google I/O 2021 which is happening next month.

Last month, the alleged Google Pixel 5a got Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification, which hints that the smartphone could launch in India too. The renders of Pixel 5a shared by Steve Hemmerstoffer show the design is pretty identical to Pixel 4a. It is having the same dual rear camera setup, a top-left punch-hole style selfie camera, and a 6.2-inch display.
